One Case of Acute Nephritis, February 9, 1990
In the first month of the Geng-Wu year, I treated a case of acute nephritis in a female worker at the Wushan Cement Factory. Using Xiangsha Liu Jun, Wu Ling San, and Yue Pi Tang with yi mu cao, su geng, and chan tui yielded good results. For a uremic patient at the Lanmian Factory, I used Si Jun Zi Tang, Wu Ling San, and Wu Zhu Yu Tang with quan xie, wu gong, chishao, dan shen, yi mu cao, cao guo, and dahuang, achieving good results. This demonstrates that kidney disease treatment should be based on Si Jun Zi Tang, with Wu Ling San as the preferred choice. Add Yue Bi for acute cases, and insect-based medicines for chronic cases. Among insect-based medicines, chan tui, quan xie, and wu gong are the most commonly used; if uremia is present, add Yi Dan Cao Guo Tang, Da Huang Fu Zi Tang, and Wu Zhu Yu Tang. In terms of dosage, cao guo, su geng, and yi mu cao should be used in larger quantities. Furthermore, insect-based medicines such as chan tui, quan xie, wu gong, shui zhi, and tu bie chong are all suitable choices for treating kidney disease.
