Case of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, June 29, 1993

The son of a certain official in Longxi County was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. I initially administered the Lanzhou formula as a preliminary treatment, followed two weeks later by vincristine at 2 mg once weekly, combined with prednisone at 5 mg three times daily, taken orally. After four weeks, complete remission was achieved. During chemotherapy, the Lanzhou formula was continued. Subsequently, I added Ma Tu Shui to the Lanzhou formula as the base prescription, where Ma refers to strychnos nux-vomica, Tu to rhubarb, and Shui to leeches. After more than two months of medication, the patient’s condition steadily improved, with no recurrence observed.
