Age Factor in Prognostic Analysis of Cirrhosis, December 31, 1993

Three hundred adult patients with cirrhosis were grouped by age, starting from 30 years old and increasing in 5-year increments, totaling seven groups. The largest group was aged 50–54 (31%), followed by the under-35 group at 13%. The most reasonable grouping would be under-35, 35–49, and over-50. Among these three age groups, the younger the patient, the longer their survival time. In other words, survival time is inversely proportional to age.
