Primary Hypotension February 13, 1995
Main symptoms: Among 84 cases, 81 experienced dizziness, fatigue, forgetfulness, insomnia, and excessive dreaming; 75 had discomfort or angina-like pain in the precordial region; 66 had palpitations, poor appetite, and abdominal distension; 56 felt cold; 30 had tinnitus and foot pain; 19 had spontaneous sweating. Those with blood pressure below 90/60mmHg (12/8kPa) are considered hypotensive, at which point the above symptoms may appear. These symptoms constitute the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome of heart-spleen deficiency, including dizziness, fatigue, forgetfulness, insomnia, excessive dreaming, palpitations, precordial discomfort, poor appetite, abdominal distension, feeling cold, tinnitus, and foot pain—all falling under this category. Clinically, patients presenting with these symptoms should not overlook the diagnosis of hypotension. Western medicine can use gamma-orizanol, shengwei ketone, and ephedrine, all providing temporary relief, while traditional Chinese medicine recommends Guipi Tang, Shengmai San, and Zhenwu Tang as the best options for treating this condition.
