Diagnosis of Colon Cancer, July 28, 1997

In the summer of Dingchou, a patient named Su Tiancheng from Tianshui experienced severe pain in the lower left abdomen and was hospitalized several times without a definitive diagnosis, so he came to Lanzhou for treatment. Renal imaging showed no abnormalities, and routine stool tests revealed no obvious irregularities. Isotope scans indicated: CEA 20, AFP (+), SA 1000U, CA-50 60U—four indicators were all positive. Given that the patient had already returned to Tianshui, we advised him over the phone to undergo colonoscopy and pancreatic examination. The results revealed three lesions measuring 0.5 cm × 0.5 cm in the colon, and biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of colon cancer.
