Hypersensitivity Subsepsis (WFC) February 26, 2001

The main characteristics are fever, rash, and joint pain. There are typically two forms: pediatric and adult, with a male-to-female ratio of about 2:1. Laboratory tests show accelerated erythrocyte sedimentation rate as the primary feature, accompanied by anemia, but with high white blood cell counts and active bone marrow proliferation, including increased promyelocytes and myelocytes. Increased mucoproteins and gamma globulins are also characteristic. Antinuclear antibodies (peptide antibodies) and rheumatoid factor are negative. The rash varies in shape and size, appearing as punctate, papular, scarlet fever-like, measles-like, or urticaria-like lesions. The chest, back, and abdomen are the most common sites, followed by the limbs and face. This disease affects more males than females, with middle-aged and young adults being the most susceptible group. The rash is transient and most noticeable during high fever. Some consider sore throat to be the fourth major symptom of this disease. Other patients experience muscle pain and generalized lymphadenopathy. The primary treatment for this condition is hormones and cyclophosphamide, with traditional Chinese medicine formulas such as Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Tang and Zhuye Shigao Tang being the preferred choices for high fever. Chicken blood vine 10 g, Epimedium 10 g, Dodder seed 10 g, Achyranthes root 10 g, Rehmannia glutinosa 12 g, Scrophularia ningpoensis 10 g, Ophiopogon japonicus 10 g, Eclipta prostrata 10 g, Psoralea corylifolia 10 g (three animals that increase fluids and stop intestinal diarrhea), Lithospermum erythrorhizon 20 g, Black snake 9 g, and centipede 1 piece. In addition, Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Tang is also an important prescription for treating this disease.
