Subacute Thyroiditis with Multiple Systemic Lymphadenitis March 12, 2001

Xin Yichun, a female patient, 36 years old, hospitalized in Ward 3, had subacute thyroiditis three years ago. Over the past year, she has experienced widespread lymphadenopathy (about the size of a soybean), accompanied by pain. She was admitted to the outpatient clinic under the diagnosis of systemic lymphadenitis. After antibiotic treatment, the swelling and pain in the lymph nodes have eased to varying degrees, but she still experiences facial flushing, five-heart heat, palpitations, and insomnia. Western medications such as propranolol and diazepam have been ineffective. I treated her with the following formula:

Astragalus, Angelica sinensis, Rehmannia glutinosa, prepared Rehmannia glutinosa, Scutellaria baicalensis, Coptis chinensis, Phellodendron amurense, Cinnamomum cassia, White peony root, Anemarrhena asphodeloides, dried ginger, licorice, Ledebouriella seseloides, Ephedra sinica, Atractylodes macrocephala, Aconitum carmichaelii, and Aconitum pendulum, all at 15 g each (decocted for 1 hour).

After three doses, the symptoms completely disappeared, and the patient said this formula was truly miraculous and could be continued.
