7. Regarding Infant Epilepsy
Q: My nephew, who is just over six months old, has started having seizures and tightly clenched hands and feet. Sometimes he has several episodes a day. After multiple tests at the hospital, the doctor diagnosed him with epilepsy and recommended long-term oral anti-epileptic medication. Will these drugs affect infants?
A: Anti-epileptic drugs do have effects on infants. First, you should check whether there are any organic lesions in the brain. If there aren’t, you can opt for traditional Chinese medicine, which is very effective for infant epilepsy through syndrome differentiation.
