3.3 Effects of Pei’s Soft Liver and Anti-Bloating Pill on Immune Organs—Thymus and Spleen—in Tumor-Bearing Mice
The thymus and spleen of the model control group mice are both significantly smaller in size and lighter in weight, with some thymuses having unclear lobes and appearing grayish-white, and the spleens turning pale red. The thymus indices (TI) of the PRGXP small-, medium-, and large-dose groups as well as the BM group are all higher than those of the model control group. Among them, the TI of the PRGXP medium-dose group is (53.2±15.6) mg/10 g, an increase of 31.4% compared with the model control group, which is statistically significant (P<0.05). Compared with the blank group, the TI of the model control group mice is significantly lower (P<0.05). The spleen indices (SI) of the PRGXP small-, medium-, and large-dose groups as well as the BM group are (58.9±14.5) mg/10 g, (65.0±10.1) mg/10 g, (55.2±15.9) mg/10 g, and (63.6±15.8) mg/10 g, respectively, all of which are higher than those of the model control group, and compared with the model control group
Research on Pei Zhengxue’s series of prescriptions
are statistically significant (p<0.05); compared with the blank group, the SI of the model control group mice is significantly lower (p<0.05). There is no statistically significant difference among the PRGXP small-, medium-, and large-dose groups as well as the BM group (p>0.05). (See Table 2, Figures 3 and 4)
