2.2 Treatment Methods

2.2.1 Conventional Western Medicine Treatment

Administer hydroxyurea at 1–3 g/day, divided into 1–3 doses orally. When the white blood cell count drops to around 20 × 10⁹/L, halve the dose; when it reaches 10 × 10⁹/L, reduce the hydroxyurea dosage to 0.5–1 g/day. Discontinue medication when the WBC falls below 5 × 10⁹/L; if it remains above 10 × 10⁹/L, continue taking the drug.

2.2.2 Integrated TCM-Western Medicine Treatment

Starting from the day hydroxyurea is taken, administer Pei's "Lanzhou Formula":

Radix Adenophorae 15 g, Radix Pseudostellariae 15 g, Radix Codonopsis 15 g, Rhizoma Panaxis 15 g, Radix Rehmanniae 12 g, Rhizoma Dioscoreae 10 g, Fructus Corni 30 g, Rhizoma Ophiopogonis 15 g, Fructus Schisandrae 3 g, Ramulus Cinnamomi 10 g, Radix Paeoniae Alba 10 g, Glycyrrhiza 6 g, Rhizoma Zingiberis 6 g, Jujube 4 pieces, and Fructus Tritici 30 g

Decoct in water and take one dose daily, divided into two warm doses in the morning and evening.

If in the chronic phase, add Semen Strychni 1 piece, Rheum palmatum 15 g, and Hirudo 3 g.

If in the accelerated phase, add Lithospermum erythrorhizon 30 g, Gentiana scabra 10 g, Millettia reticulata 15 g, Semen Strychni 1 piece, Halite 30 g, and Dryopteris crassirhizoma 10 g.

2.2.3 Rational use of antibiotics, nutritional support, and symptomatic treatment; transfusion therapy may be administered when necessary.
