5. Acute Abdominal Conditions

In addition to surgical treatment, in recent years, various regions have successively researched and implemented non-surgical therapies for acute abdominal conditions, among which the most effective is the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine, with blood-activating and stasis-removing therapy being the most commonly used TCM treatment principle. The First Affiliated Hospital of Shanxi Medical College used Huo Luo Xiao Ling Dan to treat over 700 cases of ectopic pregnancy, achieving excellent results; this method has since been promoted nationwide for treating over 2,000 cases, confirming its effectiveness. Experimental studies have shown that Huo Luo Xiao Ling Dan with added ingredients can effectively clear pelvic blood clots, enhance monocyte phagocytic function, and improve blood solubility, all of which have obvious promoting effects. The Tianjin Research Institute for Combined Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Treatment of Acute Abdominal Conditions has achieved remarkable results in treating acute appendicitis using blood-activating and stasis-removing therapy. For early-stage appendicitis, they use the Appendicitis Removing Blood Stasis Decoction (Yuan Hu, Chuan Lian Zi, Dan Pi, Tao Ren, Mu Xiang, Yin Hua, Da Huang); once the appendix becomes suppurative, they switch to the Appendicitis Clearing and Detoxifying Decoction (Yin Hua, Gong Ying, Dan Pi, Da Huang, Chuan Lian Zi, Chi Shao, Tao Ren, Sheng Cao), which combines clearing heat and detoxifying with regulating qi and activating blood; for cases with severe systemic poisoning symptoms, they administer the Appendicitis Clearing and Detoxifying Decoction (Yin Hua, Gong Ying, Da Huang, Dong Gua Ren, Dan Pi, Mu Xiang, Chuan Lian Zi, Sheng Cao, Sheng Shi Gao, Tian Hua Fen), which focuses on clearing heat and detoxifying while also regulating qi and activating blood.
