Smoking induces colon polyps on November 29, 2002

According to an evidence-based study conducted by Stony Brook University on 1,566 patients undergoing colonoscopy, published in the China Medical Forum Daily on November 7, 2002, smokers have nearly twice the incidence of rectal polyps compared to non-smokers. This finding strongly corroborates the traditional Chinese medicine theory that the lungs and large intestine are interconnected. Previous studies include: ① lung metastasis from colon cancer; ② using Lianggesan to clear the large intestine and treat pulmonary hemoptysis; ③ Wang Jinda’s experimental research on ligating the mesentery of the large intestine, leading to pulmonary tissue necrosis.

Related thought: Liver wood controls earth: ① loss of appetite and abdominal distension due to hepatitis; ② bile reflux gastritis; ③ soothing the liver can treat the stomach. This demonstrates that traditional Chinese medical theory is a scientific truth derived from practical experience.
