Prescription for Treating Alopecia Areata—March 23, 1979
Alopecia areata, also known as "oil wind," is a common outpatient condition. Ban Xiuwen from Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine treated a case using methods to nourish yin and increase fluid, cool blood, and unblock collaterals. After more than 30 doses of medication, the hair completely regrew, becoming black, soft, and lustrous as before.
Prescription: Moutan bark 10 g, Gardenia fruit 10 g, Rehmannia glutinosa 12 g, Scrophularia ningpoensis 15 g, Ophiopogon japonicus 12 g, Carthamus tinctorius 2 g, Imperata cylindrica 60 g, Schizonepeta tenuifolia 3 g, Lotus root 15 g, Eclipta prostrata 15 g. Decoct in water and take one dose daily.
Mnemonic: Danzhi Zengye Tang, Hongbai Jingjie Cao.
