Wegener's Granulomatosis May 29, 1996
Wegener's granulomatosis is a connective tissue disease, with necrotizing inflammation of the throat and upper respiratory tract being the most common manifestation, accompanied by necrotizing periarterial nodular inflammation and necrotizing glomerulonephritis as the basic pathological changes. Rapid erythrocyte sedimentation rate, fever, rash, and joint pain are clinical features. The prognosis is poor, and treatment relies on hormones and immunosuppressants.
