Treatment Case of Paroxysmal Numbness in One Upper Limb, January 17, 2001
In the autumn of the Gengchen year, a patient experienced paroxysmal numbness in one upper limb, accompanied by numbness in the same-side lower limb, though less pronounced. Blood pressure was normal. I prescribed Sheng Di Huang, Shan Zhu Yu, Shan Yao, Gui Zhi, Fu Zi, Mai Dong, Wu Wei Zi, Shi Hu, Rou Cong Rong, Shi Chang Pu, Yuan Zhi, Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Chi Shao, Tao Ren, Hong Hua, Jiang Can, Quan Xie, Wu Gong, Gou Teng, and Xi Xin. After taking more than 60 doses of this formula, all symptoms completely disappeared. The formula was based on Di Huang Yin Zi, originally formulated by Liu He Jian to treat stroke patients who could not speak or walk, known as "wind door." Tao Hong Si Wu Tang combined with Jiang Can, Quan Xie, and Wu Gong is a famous formula used by Zhao Xin Bo to treat epilepsy. Combining these two formulas effectively treated unilateral numbness.
